Effects of non-magnetic impurities on spin-fluctuations induced superconductivity

چکیده

We study the effects of non-magnetic impurities on the phase diagram of a system of interacting electrons with a flat Fermi surface. The one-loop Wilsonian renormalization group flow of the angle dependent diffusion function D(θ1, θ2, θ3) and interaction U(θ1, θ2, θ3) determines the critical temperature and the nature of the low temperature state. As the imperfect nesting increases the critical temperature decreases and the low temperature phase changes from the spin-density wave (SDW) to the d-wave superconductivity (dSC) and finally, for bad nesting, to the random antiferromagnetic state (RAF). Both SDW and dSC phases are affected by disorder. The pair breaking depends on the imperfect nesting and is the most efficient when the critical temperature for superconductivity is maximal.

Enhancing superconductivity: Magnetic impurities and their quenching by magnetic fields

– Magnetic fields and magnetic impurities are each known to suppress superconductivity. However, as the field quenches (i.e. polarizes) the impurities, rich consequences, including field-enhanced superconductivity, can emerge when both effects are present. In superconducting wires and thin films this field-spin interplay is investigated via the EilenbergerUsadel scheme. Non-monotonic dependence...

Unconventional superconductivity and magnetism in Sr2RuO4 and related materials

We review the normal and superconducting state properties of the unconventional triplet superconductor Sr2RuO4 with an emphasis on the analysis of the magnetic susceptibility and the role played by strong electronic correlations. In particular, we show that the magnetic activity arises from the itinerant electrons in the Ru d-orbitals and a strong magnetic anisotropy occurs (χ+− < χ) due to spi...

Superconductivity induced by longitudinal ferromagnetic fluctuations in UCoGe.

From detailed angle-resolved NMR and Meissner measurements on a ferromagnetic (FM) superconductor UCoGe (T(Curie)∼2.5  K and T(SC)∼0.6  K), we show that superconductivity in UCoGe is tightly coupled with longitudinal FM spin fluctuations along the c axis. We found that magnetic fields along the c axis (H∥c) strongly suppress the FM fluctuations and that the superconductivity is observed in the ...

In-gap quasiparticle excitations induced by non-magnetic Cu impurities in Na(Fe0.96Co0.03Cu0.01)As revealed by scanning tunnelling spectroscopy

The origin of superconductivity in the iron pnictides remains unclear. One suggestion is that superconductivity in these materials has a magnetic origin, which would imply a sign-reversal s(±) pairing symmetry. Another suggests it is the result of orbital fluctuations, which would imply a sign-equal s(++) pairing symmetry. There is no consensus yet which of these two distinct and contrasting pa...

Conductance of mesoscopic systems with magnetic impurities

We investigate the combined effects of magnetic impurities and applied magnetic field on the interference contribution to the conductance of disordered metals. We show that in a metal with weak spin-orbit interaction, the polarization of impurity spins reduces the rate of electron phase relaxation, thus enhancing the weaklocalization correction to conductivity. Magnetic field also suppresses th...
